You
are invited to come
join us for friendship
and fellowship on our
Annual Family &
Friends Day. Our service
is held annually on
the 4th Sunday in March.
We
know that families and
friends of our members
do not all attend the
same church. So, this
is our way, our time
to show appreciation
to our congregation,
their family, friends
and the community. This
is a time that we can
all come together in
one meeting place from
far and near, under
the same roof, to be
reminded that if we
are not biologically
connected, we are connected
Spiritually. Where we
can fellowship in love,
God's Agape love for
each other and experience
the friendship that
we all can have.
Psalms
127:1 says "Except
the Lord build the house,
they labour in vain
that build it: except
the Lord keep the city,
the watchman waketh
but in vain."
Proverbs 18:24 says
"A man that hath
friends must shew himself
friendly: and there
is a friend that sticketh
closer than a brother."
We
are in the Family of
God and are Friends
of God though the sacrifice
that Jesus Christ His
Son made for each of
us.
"For
if, while we were God’s
enemies, we were reconciled
to him through the death
of his Son, how much
more, having been reconciled,
shall we be saved through
his life!" Romans
5:10 (NIV)

Family
& Friends Day could
actually be looked at
like having an "Open
House". Open House
is used in various settings
such as real estate
where a house is open
to various people "Callers"
who are interested in
taking a tour and holding
inspection, but there
are no restrictions
on who can come to the
Open House. It's like
a "Meet and Greet"
if you will.
Colossians
3:12-14 says "As
God’s chosen ones,
holy and beloved, clothe
yourselves with compassion,
kindness, humility,
meekness, and patience.
Bear with one another
and, if anyone has a
complaint against another,
forgive each other;
just as the Lord has
forgiven you, so you
also must forgive. Above
all, clothe yourselves
with love, which binds
everything together
in perfect harmony.
( NRSV)
Paul
understood that it's
not easy for everyone
to get along, especially
in families. We are
all linked together
by either biologicial
blood or by the blood
of Jesus Christ and
we have to have, we
need to have the "clothing"
that Paul speaks of
in Colossians.
Just
like an "Open House"
we open the doors of
Mountain View and welcome
family and friends to
come together, not to
inspect, but to expect
receiving the Word of
God - expect a blessing.
Not to take a "tour"
of Mountain View, but
journey with us as we
all go a tour together
through the Word of
God. |
